Kathmandu: U.S. President Donald Trump has hinted at a major diplomatic breakthrough in the Middle East peace talks, saying he is likely to travel to Egypt by the end of next week. Trump claimed the peace deal is “very close” to being finalized.
Trump Reads Secretary’s Note on Progress
Speaking at an event at the White House on Wednesday, Trump shared a note from U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, which read: “We are very close to reaching a deal in the Middle East, and I will have to go there soon.”
Trump added that he may depart for Egypt around Saturday, emphasizing his intention to “resolve some issues” and make “peace for the Middle East” a reality.
Egyptian Mediation Intensifies
According to Al Jazeera, Egyptian mediators have informed the Palestinian delegation that if the deal succeeds, Trump will officially declare an end to the war in Gaza.
Palestinian representatives have reportedly demanded that Israel present a clear map of troop withdrawal from Gaza and that prisoner releases be conducted simultaneously.
Deadline Set for Friday
Mediators have urged both Palestinian and Israeli sides to finalize their commitments by Friday.
Sources say Hamas has agreed to release all Israeli hostages and return the bodies of the deceased only after significant improvement in the ground situation.
Key Issues Near Resolution
Progress has reportedly been achieved on the prisoner exchange list and guarantees to prevent renewed conflict after the agreement.
The Egyptian mediation team continues to hold intense discussions with the Israeli delegation in an effort to resolve the remaining disputed points and secure a lasting ceasefire.
